SUMMARY:Rescheduling - Powering the Brain: A Parent’s Guide to Mitochondria and ASD with Sundeep Dugar\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nJoin host Wendy Fournier for a conversation with Dr. Sundeep Dugar\, co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Blue Oak Nutraceuticals\, on the importance of mitochondrial function in individuals with ASD. Together\, they will examine how focus\, mood\, development\, immune function\, and overall well-being are directly tied to cellular energy. By attending this session\, attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of mitochondria – the biological engines driving their child’s development. What you can expect to learn: \n\n\n\nImpact of internal cellular energy on external behaviors\nWhy mitochondria are at the center of health\nDefinitions of the Bioenergetic Threshold and Cell Danger Response (CDR)\nShifting from defense mode to growth mode\nHow to proactively build a foundation for health and resilience\n\n\n\nSundeep has almost 40 years of experience and great success in small-molecule drug discovery and development in oncology\, – inflammation\,
the central nervous system\, and cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Founded Advantium Pharma (2005)\, a contract research and manufacturing company; Sphaera Pharma (2008)\, establishing a new and unique model for drug discovery and development; Epirium Bio (2019)\, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company; Aayam Therapeutics (2022) advancing therapeutics for patients. Sundeep has almost 40 years of experience and great success in small-molecule drug discovery and development in oncology\, – inflammation\,
the central nervous system\, and cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. American Chemical Society’s 2005 National Inventor of the Year Award and 2004 Heroes of Chemistry Award.\nCo-author of 70+ publications and presentations\, and co-inventor on 100+ issued and applied patents.\nCo-organizer of the R. Bryan Miller Symposium at UC Davis for 20+ years\, where he is Senior Research Fellow\, helped create the UC Davis Pharmaceutical Chemistry program\, and previously served as Trustee of the UC Davis Foundation.\nLeading team (named A New Dimension) that is a semifinalist and Top 40 Milestone 1 Award winner in the prestigious $101 Million XPRIZE Healthspan competition.\nPost-doctoral fellowship – Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH)\nPost-doctoral fellowship – Cornell University Ph.D. Chemistry – University of California Davis

SUMMARY:Beyond Picky Eating: Understanding the “Why” and Supporting Better Eating in Autism
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Julie Matthews\, MS\, NC \n\nPicky eating is one of the most common and challenging concerns for families of children with autism\, but it is rarely just about behavior. Food selectivity is often a reflection of underlying biological\, sensory\, and neurological factors that influence how a child experiences food\, digestion\, and appetite. \nIn this practical and empowering session\, Julie Matthews\, MS\, will help parents understand the root causes of picky eating through a whole-body\, systems-based lens. You’ll learn how factors such as sensory sensitivities\, gut health\, nutrient imbalances\, inflammation\, and nervous system regulation can all play a role in shaping eating patterns. Julie will also share clear\, realistic strategies to help you gently expand your child’s diet without pressure or overwhelm. From improving nutritional intake within a limited diet to introducing new foods in a supportive way\, this talk focuses on meeting your child where they are while moving forward step by step. Parents will leave with a deeper understanding of why picky eating happens and a practical roadmap to support better eating\, improved nutrition\, and overall health in a way that feels achievable for real life. \n\nAbout the Speaker:\nJulie Matthews\, MS\, is a Certified Nutrition Consultant and published researcher specializing in personalized nutrition for complex neurological conditions\, particularly autism spectrum disorder and ADHD for over 25 years. She received her master’s degree in medical nutrition\, with distinction\, from Arizona State University\, and she’s co-author of two research studies demonstrating the effectiveness of nutrition and therapeutic diet intervention for autism spectrum disorder. Julie is the author of The Personalized Autism Nutrition Plan and Nourishing Hope for Autism. Visit NourishingHope.com. \n\n  \nHosted by: Wendy Fournier
